A mountain in Ólafsfjörður in Iceland, 145 x 145 cm 2019
In April 2019, I spent a month-long artist residency in Olafsfjordur, Iceland; unlike my three-month residency in Seydisfjordur in 2018, I felt closer to nature further north in Olafsfjordur. This was partly because I was the only one at the residency. Although I felt lonely, I always had the feeling that this mountain, which I could see from the large windows of the residence, was watching over me and talking to me.
White mountains, 89 x 145 cm 2019
I once climbed the mountain I drew earlier, the one I can see from my window. Of course, the window of my place was too small to see it from the top. The landscape seen from there was a silver-white world.
Day Dream in Grunewald, Berlin 91 x 60 cm 2018
I asked performance artist Anna from Berlin to perform with me in Grunewald, the forest in Berlin. Feeling inspired in the birch forest, I began massaging rotting birch trees. They are soft and elastic, like dried bodies.
This painting represents a daydream in which I become one with this forest.

Naan Painting is one of the replacements of the canvas with the objects around us.
Ambiguous landscape paintings
I started painting ambiguous landscapes 30 years ago. The misty clouds still float in front of me.
Blurred landscape paintings of imaginary nature were created in my studio in the bustling city of Osaka.
In contrast, there is a faint glimmer of light in my more recent paintings, inspired by my experiences with real landscapes in the Scottish countryside.
I am trying to juxtapose these two types of painting and look again at what you want to depict in their intersection. Also trying to think about the connection with performance.
